Iran Vows to Protect Sovereignty, Urges UN to End Bloody Conflict

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s commitment to maintaining national sovereignty amidst intensifying military escalation. Iran has stated it is prepared to mobilise all available resources to protect its citizens and territorial integrity.

“We will take all necessary measures to defend our people, our territory, and our independence,” Iravani declared during a press conference in New York on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. He also urged the international community to take immediate concrete action to halt the bloody conflict targeting Iranian civilians.

The escalation reached its peak following a series of airstrikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory on 28 February 2026. The strikes targeted not only military facilities but also areas in the capital Tehran, resulting in civilian casualties.

According to Iranian state television reports, the strikes also resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This event represents a critical turning point in the history of the modern Middle East conflict, triggering retaliatory strikes involving Iranian missile launches at Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Gulf region.

Amir Saeid Iravani emphasised that international silence will only worsen regional stability. Iran is demanding accountability for the destruction and loss of life resulting from the 28 February military operations.

At present, the situation at borders and military bases throughout the Middle East remains on high alert. The international community continues to push for de-escalation dialogue to prevent a wider open conflict in the region.
