Iran Vows It Will Not Surrender in War Against the US
The conflict between the United States and Iran has heated up once more after both sides engaged in mutual attacks. Iran’s Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, asserted that this war will never end with Tehran’s surrender.
“Ending the war is a priority for countries around the world, but everyone must know that this confrontation will never end with Iran’s surrender,” Ghalibaf said, as reported by the ISNA news agency and carried by AFP on Friday (10/7/2026).
“Every time the American side betrays the understanding (the agreement), we are fully prepared to defend ourselves. We will stand firm against them and secure the rights of the Iranian people,” he added during a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of Indonesia’s People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR).
The US and Iran have exchanged fire on several occasions throughout the past week.
Washington accused Tehran of deliberately targeting commercial vessels in international waters before eventually launching retaliatory strikes. Meanwhile, Iran stated that it had attacked a number of American military assets in the Middle East region using drones and missiles.
This escalation came just three weeks after Washington and Tehran signed an agreement aimed at transforming the ceasefire into lasting peace. However, two consecutive days of mutual attacks up until Thursday now threaten a return to full-scale regional war.
Ghalibaf revealed that during negotiations with Washington, he had directly told US Vice President JD Vance of his country’s distrust.
“We have no trust in you,” Ghalibaf said, repeating his statement to JD Vance.
“From my point of view, those who can negotiate with America are those who are truly ready to go to war,” he continued.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he had approved further negotiations with Iran. Nevertheless, Trump once again repeated his assertion that the ceasefire between the two countries has now expired.
As a mediation measure, a delegation from the Qatari mediators was reported to have arrived in Iran on Friday to conduct intensive talks following the latest escalation between the two countries.
