Iran’s highest-ranking security official, Ali Larijani, has publicly urged Muslim-majority nations to reassess their stance towards Tehran. This call comes amid escalating conflicts involving Iran against the United States and Israel.

In an official Arabic-language letter released on Monday, 16 March, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council appealed to Islamic leaders to collectively consider the region’s future. Larijani asserted that the current conflict map has divided into two diametrically opposed camps.

“Today, the confrontation occurs between America and Israel on one side, and the resistance force on the other,” Larijani stated in his letter.

Larijani also issued a stern warning to neighbouring states regarding their Western alliances. He claimed Iran’s position in this conflict serves the collective interests of the Islamic world, rather than power ambitions.

“You know that America is faithful to no one, and Israel is your enemy. Stop for a moment and reflect upon yourselves and this region’s future. Iran is sincere in offering you counsel and does not seek to dominate you,” he asserted.

Beyond calling for unity, Larijani criticised Muslim nations perceived as providing limited support during the crisis. He claimed Iran faces “American-Zionist aggression” intended to destabilise the country.

Despite facing sustained attacks, Larijani claimed Iran’s population continues to demonstrate solid national and Islamic resistance.

This open letter was dispatched amidst an extremely sensitive diplomatic situation. Several Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain, had previously issued strong condemnations against Iran.

These condemnations were triggered by Iranian missile and drone attacks striking their territories since the conflict erupted over two weeks ago. Tehran claimed these attacks targeted locations it associates with American military bases in the region.
