Iran Unveils a Warehouse of Shahed-136 Drones Turned Into Weapons of War
Iran’s drone attacks, including the Shahed-136, have unsettled the United States and its Gulf allies. Iranian media recently showcased its drone fleet lined up inside an underground bunker as part of a propaganda video. DetikINET, citing the semi-official Fars News Agency, said the drones were stationed on top of rocket launchers and in the beds of trucks. The video also featured a dramatic soundtrack. The Shahed drones, whose production cost is only a few thousand dollars, are believed to be the type shown in the video. Iran has deployed Shahed drones across the Middle East in retaliation to the United States and Israel following Operation Epic Fury and Lion’s Roar. The drone strikes targeted US military bases in neighbouring countries, including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait. It was reported that six US service members were killed in a drone attack on Shuaiba Port, Kuwait. The port houses a US Army reserve unit. Quoted from the NY Post, four American soldiers — Captain Cody Khork (35) of Florida; Sergeant First Class Noah Tietjens (42) of Nebraska; Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor (39) of Minnesota; and Sergeant Declan Coady from Iowa — were killed in the attack. It is known that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and around 40 senior Iranian officials were killed in Operation Epic Fury launched by the US and Israel in Tehran. Nevertheless, Iran continued to retaliate by launching drones and missiles, though most were intercepted and shot down by the air defence systems of neighbouring countries.
