The ceasefire agreement between the United States (US) and Iran has come to an end. US President Donald Trump has issued fresh threats against Iran, yet Iran shows no fear.

As reported by detikcom on Wednesday (8/7/2026), Trump made the remarks after Washington launched attacks against the Islamic Republic. Iran responded by targeting American military bases in Gulf countries.

Announcing that the ceasefire agreement with Iran had ended on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkey, Trump called the Iranian leader “trash” and “insane”.

“I think it’s over. I don’t want to deal with them again. They’re trash, they’re sick people, they’re led by mentally sick people, and they’re vicious and brutal people. And if they had nuclear weapons, they would use them,” Trump said, referring to Iran’s current leadership.

Furthermore, Trump accused Iran of repeatedly misinterpreting what had been agreed in the ceasefire.

“Everybody agreed, no nuclear weapons. We made a deal. They came out, spoke to the press, and then said we never even discussed it. Something’s wrong with them, they’re insane. As far as I’m concerned, it’s over,” the US President said.

Trump’s Threats

Meanwhile, as reported by AFP on Thursday (9/7/2026), Iranian state media reported explosions at several locations along Iran’s southern coast, after the US Central Command announced a new wave of strikes.

Fighter jets were heard over Kish Island and explosions shook the port cities of Bandar Abbas, Konarak and Chabahar, some of which lost electricity, according to Iran’s official news agency IRNA.

“This was in retaliation for yesterday’s bombing of a ship by Iran,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “If it happens again, it will be far worse!”

While ordering retaliation against Tehran, the US President said earlier on Wednesday that he hoped the latest military escalation would soon end and open the door to further talks.

CENTCOM said the strikes were carried out to weaken the Iranian forces’ capability “to threaten freedom of navigation” in the strait, through which a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas normally passes.

“The United States holds Iran accountable for its recent unprovoked aggression against commercial shipping,” CENTCOM said on X.

Iran Invites the US to Come

Chief of Staff and Deputy Coordinator of Iran’s Armed Forces, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, as reported by CBS News and Euro News on Thursday (9/7/2026), affirmed that Iranian forces would turn the country’s coastal region into “hell” for US troops if ordered to attack.

Speaking on Tehran state television, Sayyari said that the military, police and paramilitary forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) “are so strong and firmly present on the ground that the enemy would not even think of deploying troops on Iran’s coastline”.

“The enemy knows that any attempt to land troops on Iran’s coast is tantamount to entering an earthly hell with no way out,” he said.

He said Trump’s latest statement was “intended to prove that there are no obstacles preventing a military presence on Iran’s coast”.

“Our response is clear: ‘If you have the guts, come then’,” Sayyari asserted in his statement on Wednesday (8/7), quoted by IRNA.

In a separate statement, the Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Iran’s joint military command, warned neighbouring countries that actions “providing support” to US forces “will be considered legitimate targets for Iran’s Armed Forces”.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Iranian parliament’s National Security Commission, Ebrahim Rezaei, asserted that Iran “is not intimidated by the bluster and threats of figures like Trump”.

“We are ready to confront any form of crime,” Rezaei said.

Iranian Foreign Minister’s Response

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed the insulting remarks from Trump, who had called Iran’s leadership “trash” and “insane”.

Araghchi affirmed that Iran does not respond to “crude words with crude words”, but with actions.

“Referring to the civilised and courageous Iranian nation in derogatory language will not diminish their greatness,” Araghchi said in a statement on social media platform X, as reported by Press TV on Thursday (9/7/2026).

“The Iranian nation is known for its politeness, culture and strong moral values. We do not respond to crude words with crude words, but with actions: fearlessly and with full courage,” he asserted.

Araghchi’s statement came after Trump, on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Turkey, called Iran’s leadership “trash” and “insane”. He also announced that the ceasefire agreement had ended, after the two countries resumed attacking each other.

“I think it’s over,” Trump said when asked by journalists about the US-Iran ceasefire.
