Iran threatens to attack US technology companies
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Iran is reported to have threatened to target the operations of several US technology companies in the Middle East region. According to Engadget on Thursday, the threat issued by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is directed at 18 companies, including Apple, Google, Meta, and NVIDIA. Other companies mentioned include Microsoft, Oracle, Tesla, HP, Intel, Palantir, Boeing, Dell, Cisco, and IBM. The IRGC has urged employees of these companies to leave their workplaces immediately for their safety. Additionally, residents living near the facilities of these companies have been asked to evacuate. It is known that the United States used artificial intelligence technology from the company Anthropic in its initial attacks on Iran, while Israel is reported to have utilised AI platforms to track the movements of Iranian officials in the ongoing conflict. The IRGC has also warned that it will begin launching attacks if more Iranian leaders become victims. Previously, Iran has stated that it will target matters related to US and Israeli economic interests in the region. Earlier this month, drone attacks reportedly struck Amazon’s military data centres in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, which temporarily disrupted operations of Amazon Web Services cloud services in the area.
