Iran Threatens Retaliation Over Latest US Strikes

A senior military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader warned on Thursday that ‘aggressor enemies and their accomplices’ would be ‘severely punished’ following a new wave of US strikes. Mohsen Rezaei, senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, made the statement in a post on the US social media platform X. The statement came shortly after Iranian media reported a series of explosions across southern Iran following US strikes targeting several locations. State television said projectile fragments struck the Imam Ali Hospital in the southeastern port city of Chabahar, while the Mehr News Agency reported that strikes in Bushehr province caused no damage to the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Meanwhile, US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed conducting additional strikes against Iran, saying they were intended to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. On Wednesday morning, US President Donald Trump stated that a ceasefire with Iran was no longer in effect. Several hours later, Iranian media reported explosions heard in a number of cities in the country’s southern region.
