Iran Threatens 'Harder Slap' for US if Peace Deal Violated

Iran has threatened to deliver a ‘harder slap’ to the United States if it violates a peace agreement. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran would not tolerate any breach of the memorandum of understanding (MoU). ‘If there is bad faith, breach of contract, and excessive demands from the opposing side, we will not hesitate to give a devastating response to the enemy,’ Ghalibaf said in a post on X. Ghalibaf stated that the US had been slapped multiple times during the war. Should the agreement be violated, he said, the US would receive an even harder slap from Iran. ‘They were slapped during the war; if they want to go down that path again, they will receive an even harder slap,’ Ghalibaf said. US President Donald Trump signed the memorandum of understanding during a dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palace of Versailles following the G7 summit on the evening of 17 June. ‘Just signed it,’ Trump said as he left the palace. The Iranian government also confirmed it had signed the document to end the war with the US, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei. ‘The text of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has been finalised with the signatures of the Presidents — now it is time to test the implementation of the agreement,’ Baqaei said. He added that the signing was carried out electronically and remotely by both presidents, and that a formal ceremony ‘does not have much place’ in Iran’s plans.
