Iran Threatens Full-Scale Attack if US Does Not Halt Strikes

Iran has threatened to continue “full-scale offensive operations” if the United States continues its waves of attacks against the country.

The threat, as reported by AFP and Egypt Independent on Saturday (18/7/2026), was issued by a senior official of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohsen Rezaei, who also serves as a senior military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

“If US attacks continue for another two or three days, we will enter the phase of full-scale offensive operations,” Rezaei declared in an interview broadcast by the state broadcaster IRIB on Friday (17/7) local time.

“Iran will no longer limit itself to retaliatory actions, proportionate responses… There will be no political limits safe from the reach of Iran’s strikes,” he said.

Rezaei added that the US should pay financial compensation for what Iranian officials describe as attacks on civilian infrastructure. Washington has denied deliberately targeting civilian facilities in Tehran.

The statement came as the US carried out attacks for seven consecutive nights on Iranian targets, which Tehran responded to by targeting Gulf countries hosting Washington’s military assets.

Rezaei also warned that Iran’s military response would extend beyond its borders should the conflict escalate further.

Iran’s latest threat echoes recent rhetoric from US President Donald Trump, who declared that the already fragile US-Iran ceasefire and memorandum of understanding (MoU) had “ended” before authorising a new wave of strikes against Tehran.

Since then, Iran has launched a series of retaliatory attacks on US military bases located in several neighbouring countries across the Gulf region, including Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.

Iran has also targeted US military facilities in Jordan and Saudi Arabia, heightening fears of a broader regional conflict.
