Iran’s Intelligence Ministry has praised the large crowds that attended the funeral of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing the processions in Iran and Iraq as a renewal of commitment to the nation’s ideals and the Axis of Resistance. In a statement released on Saturday, the ministry expressed gratitude to the people of Iran and Iraq, religious authorities, friendly governments, and delegations from across the Islamic world for their participation in the funeral rites. The ministry also thanked mourners from Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kashmir, India, Bahrain, and other countries, portraying their presence as a demonstration of enduring solidarity with the nation. “The historic funeral reflected the loyalty and awareness of the Islamic nation and renewed its commitment to Islamic ideals,” the statement read. The ministry commended the processions organised by Iraqi tribes and religious institutions, stating they highlighted the eternal bonds between the peoples of Iran and Iraq and strengthened the path of resistance. “We renew our covenant of blood and struggle with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and will remain on the front lines of the battle against criminal America and the child-killing Zionist regime,” the statement added. Ayatollah Khamenei was killed in a coordinated US-Israeli strike on Tehran on 28 February, at the onset of a 40-day war of aggression against Iran. Grand commemorations were held in Tehran on 5 and 6 July, followed by funeral processions in Qom on 7 July, the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala on 8 July, and Mashhad on 9 July, where Khamenei was laid to rest at the Imam Reza Shrine.
