Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated on Monday morning local time that its aerospace forces targeted two ‘important and strategic’ Israeli airbases in retaliation for Israeli attacks on the Gulf nation earlier that same day. In a statement released via its official news outlet, Sepah News, the IRGC claimed to have struck the Nevatim and Tel Nof airbases in Israel in response to Israeli missile strikes on radar installations at three locations in Iran. The IRGC noted that all its combat and operational units remain fully prepared to conduct operations across all fronts. Meanwhile, explosions were heard in Tehran, the Iranian capital, as well as in two other provinces on Monday morning, according to the semi-official Iranian news agency, Fars. Citing local sources, the report stated that one explosion was heard in western Tehran, two in Isfahan Province in central Iran, and another near Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan Province in northwest Iran. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated via Telegram that the Israeli Air Force attacked military targets in western and central Iran on Monday morning. On Sunday (7/6), the IRGC reported in a statement that it had launched ballistic missiles at the Ramat David Airbase in northern Israel in response to what it described as ‘large-scale crimes’ by Israel in southern Lebanon, including the killing and displacement of civilians. The statement alleged that the Israeli airbase had launched attacks in Lebanon. Ali Abdollahi, the Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, warned that Israel would face even more ‘destructive and regrettable’ attacks should it expand its operations into southern Lebanon and the Dahieh area on the southern outskirts of Beirut.
