Iran Suspends Peace Agreement After US Allegedly Breaches Commitments

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced on Saturday that Tehran has decided to suspend its commitments under a peace memorandum, following an assessment that the United States had violated its own obligations. “The US has violated and halted all its commitments within the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum,” Gharibabadi said in a statement broadcast by the Fars news agency. “Consequently, we have also suspended our commitments. We will not implement them because we are busy defending our country,” he added. Tensions have escalated in the Middle East as the US and Iran have failed to halt mutual attacks. Military escalation between the two nations continues to rise despite the peace memorandum signed in June, mediated by Pakistan, which aimed to end the conflict and reach a permanent, sustainable peace agreement.
