Iran Sues US at Arbitration Court over Military Aggression
Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran has filed a lawsuit at the Arbitration Court in The Hague, Netherlands, against the United States’ military aggression towards Iran, as reported by the Mizan News Agency on Tuesday (12/5). Specifically, the lawsuit filed in February-March 2026 includes accusations of US military aggression against Iran’s nuclear facilities, the imposition of economic sanctions, and threats of force, according to the report. The lawsuit is based on the US’s violation of international obligations during military operations against Iran in June 2025. According to the report, Tehran has requested that the arbitration court order the US to halt direct and indirect interference in Iran’s internal affairs and to provide full compensation for all damages caused by the US. On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iranian territory, which Iran retaliated against by striking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East. The US and Israel initially claimed their attacks were necessary to counter threats perceived from Iran’s nuclear programme. However, they soon clarified that the strikes were carried out because they sought to see a change in power in Iran. As efforts to reach an agreement failed, the US began imposing a blockade on Iranian ports. Mediators are currently working to arrange a new round of negotiations. US President Donald Trump stated on 4 May that Washington’s primary goal remains ensuring that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons. Source: Sputnik/RIA Novosti
