Iran Strongly Criticises US: Threatening Escalation While Demanding Negotiations

Iran has criticised the United States regarding its threats of military action. Iran stated that while the US speaks of escalation in the media, it continues to request negotiations through official channels.

Hassan Ghashghavi, a senior member of the Iranian Parliament and spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, stated that regardless of how conflict unfolds, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz will be managed by Tehran.

“In the media, they speak of escalation, while through existing channels, they demand negotiations,” said Ghashghavi, as reported by Al-Jazeera on Sunday.

“They cannot deceive the Islamic Republic of Iran. Whether through escalation or negotiation, Iran’s arrangements for the passage through the Strait of Hormuz remain the only available option,” he added.

Meanwhile, Majidreza Hariri, President of the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, claimed that Washington lacks the “courage” to target the nation’s energy infrastructure.

“They do not have the courage to execute it because Iran’s resilience is far greater than that of other countries in the region when facing infrastructure destruction,” Hariri stated in a post on X.

Iran’s power grid is reported to be one of the most decentralised in the world, comprising up to 150 power plants across the country. The vast scale of this network makes it significantly more difficult to cause a national blackout through airstrikes.
