Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Thursday that it had targeted US military infrastructure in Kuwait and Jordan, and shot down an American MQ-9 drone over southwestern Iran, amid escalating conflict between Tehran and Washington. According to the IRGC, its forces struck the early warning radar of a C-RAM air defence system at the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, as well as a location where US troops were gathered. The IRGC also announced the successful downing of an MQ-9 drone over the city of Andimeshk in Khuzestan Province, describing the operation as a response to overnight US strikes on several points along Iran’s southern coast. The force dismissed reports by hostile media claiming casualties or damage in Pakdasht, asserting that sounds heard in the area were solely the result of Iranian air defence activity. The Iranian military said it used suicide drones to target fixed radar sites, communication systems, and fuel storage facilities at the Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan, which is operated by the US. The attack was described as part of Iran’s response to a US strike on a military headquarters in Iranshahr. Separately, a spokesman for Iran’s Crisis Management Headquarters said part of Semnan Airport was hit by an airstrike, while residential areas across Semnan Province remained unaffected. Iran’s Fars News Agency reported two explosions from US strikes near the city of Khondab, southwest of Tehran. An Al Mayadeen correspondent also reported US airstrikes targeting areas east and west of the capital, with attacks concentrated in Hormozgan Province in southern Iran. Earlier, IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebi stated that Iran’s military operations are currently focused on destroying US offensive infrastructure across the region. ‘The enemy should not think they can continue the current battle and turn the war into a war of attrition,’ he said. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had completed a new wave of strikes against Iran, claiming to have targeted command centres, air defence sites, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities. On Wednesday night into Thursday, US forces struck the port of Bandar Abbas, the towns of Rask and Konarak in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, locations in Ahvaz, and areas around Qeshm Island. The latest exchanges come as the United States continues its military campaign against southern Iran, while Tehran responds by targeting US bases, facilities, and strategic sites across the region. US President Donald Trump said the strikes on Iran ‘will continue until I say it’s enough,’ acknowledging that Iran ‘still has the ability to fight back.’
