Iran Strikes Back: Missiles Launched at US Bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan

Iran’s military headquarters launched missile and drone strikes against United States bases in the Middle East on Wednesday (10/6/2026) in retaliation for a US Central Command (CENTCOM) attack on areas in southern Iran. In a statement, the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters described the American assault on the Jask, Sirik, and Qeshm areas as illegal. The headquarters warned that ‘heavier and more extensive’ strikes would be launched if the US continues its aggression against Iran. The statement was released after Iranian media reported explosions and projectile fragments in southern Hormozgan Province, while state television reported the situation was soon approaching calm shortly after the US attack.

According to Mehr News, Iran’s Armed Forces targeted US bases and radar systems in Bahrain, which hosts the US Fifth Fleet, a key base for American naval operations in the Persian Gulf. Australian Associated Press reported that Iran’s retaliatory strikes reached Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. Warning sirens were reportedly heard in Kuwait and Bahrain, while Jordan claimed to have shot down five Iranian missiles targeting a US base. CENTCOM announced the completion of an operation it described as a ‘self-defence’ strike against Iran, stating the attack on defence and radar systems near the Strait of Hormuz was a response to the downing of a US Apache helicopter in a previous incident.
