Iran strikes Amazon data centre in Bahrain in retaliation against US

Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it has attacked a data centre in Bahrain belonging to the American e-commerce giant Amazon, in response to the United States’ strike on the construction site of the Darkhovin Nuclear Power Plant.

“In retaliation for yesterday’s US attack on a facility under construction and civilian areas in the Darkhovin region, the IRGC has launched several cruise missiles at the main data centre infrastructure belonging to the American company Amazon in Bahrain, resulting in significant damage,” the IRGC said in a press statement on Tuesday.

Earlier, on Sunday (19 July), media reported that the US military had attacked the nuclear power plant construction site in the city of Darkhovin, Iran.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said it was investigating the reports.

According to the IAEA, the agency does not believe the attack poses a radiological risk.

Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum on the night of 18 June 2026 calling for an end to the conflict that began on 28 February.

However, the US military has carried out several attacks on Iran since 8 July 2026.

The Iranian military responded by launching attacks on a number of US military bases in several countries across the Middle East.

Tehran has also accused Washington of violating the ceasefire agreement.

Then, on 9 July, US President Donald Trump declared that the ceasefire was no longer in effect.
