Iran stresses US responsibility for implementing peace agreement
Tehran - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stressed the United States’ responsibility for implementing a peace memorandum with Iran and for the total cessation of Israeli military attacks on Lebanon. The statement was made by Araghchi in separate conversations with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. Araghchi stated that his side has reviewed the process and clauses reached during negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan. He also expressed appreciation for the positions and roles of Turkey, Iraq, and Egypt in supporting a ceasefire and de-escalating tensions, as well as for diplomatic efforts to achieve regional stability and security. The parties emphasised that all efforts should continue to advance consultations on regional developments and strengthen diplomatic endeavours to maintain security and stability. The text of the memorandum of understanding currently agreed upon, based on Tehran’s 14-point proposal at the initial stage of the ceasefire, has been reviewed repeatedly over the past 60 days by both Iran and the United States. Despite all the pressure, ceasefire violations, and shifting stances by the American side, Iran has insisted on maintaining its position. Following the signing of the peace memorandum, the US and Iran will commence a series of further negotiations within the next 60 days to reach a comprehensive agreement on issues that have yet to be resolved.
