Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran is set to revise the text of a potential memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States (US) after receiving the latest response from the US, according to semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim on Sunday (31 May).

In response to US media reports on Saturday (30 May) that the US had altered several elements of the draft agreement and sent it back to Tehran, Tasnim quoted a source familiar with the matter stating that Iran will also make its own changes to the draft deal, with no agreement yet finalised.

The source added that Iran will only accept a draft it approves, and the US’s modifications do not signify Tehran’s agreement.

US media, citing officials, reported that President Donald Trump expressed concerns over certain parts of the draft, including the release of Iran’s frozen assets, and sought stricter terms in the MoU, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear materials.

The two sides agreed to a temporary ceasefire on 8 April. In recent weeks, they have exchanged proposals outlining conditions for ending the conflict through Pakistan’s mediation.
