Iran Says US Struck Darkhovin Nuclear Site, UN Investigates

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization has claimed that projectiles allegedly launched by the United States struck the Darkhovin nuclear power plant construction site in Khuzestan province. The reported attack occurred at 03:39 local time, drawing condemnation from the Iranian body. Construction of the power plant began in 2022. Following the reports, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) launched an investigation into the incident. The UN agency stated that the facility was in the early stages of construction and did not contain any nuclear material during its last visit. The IAEA confirmed that the reported strike was believed to pose no radiological risk, while Director General Rafael Grossi reiterated calls for military restraint around all nuclear-related sites.
