Iran says US pressure will not force Tehran to compromise

Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator with the United States, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said Washington will not be able to obtain additional concessions from Tehran by increasing pressure on Iran.

“America thinks that pressing Iran harder will produce concessions that were never part of the deal. (US Treasury Secretary Scott) Bessent and (US Secretary of War Pete) Hegseth are already far beyond their capabilities. Stop hoping they will suddenly find a magical solution to clean up the mess you created yourselves,” Ghalibaf said via platform X.

On 8 July, US President Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire reached with Iran on the night of 18 June was no longer in effect.

Since 8 July, the US military has launched several waves of attacks against Iran. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes were a response to Iranian actions against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran then retaliated by launching attacks on US bases in several Middle Eastern countries, closing the Strait of Hormuz, and accusing Washington of violating the ceasefire agreement.
