Iran says US has sent response to 14-point peace proposal
Tehran (ANTARA) - The United States has sent a response to Iran’s 14-point proposal through Pakistan, and Tehran is currently examining it, said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei on Sunday (3/5). “The US has given a response to Pakistan regarding Iran’s 14-point proposal, and the Iranian authorities are currently reviewing that response,” Baghaei said, as quoted by Iranian broadcaster SNN. Baghaei added that Iran’s nuclear programme is not a topic in the negotiations between Tehran and Washington, as all discussions are focused exclusively on efforts to end the military conflict between the two countries. On Saturday (2/5), Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that Tehran had submitted a plan to end the Iran-US conflict to Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator between the two countries. Tehran’s peace plan reportedly consists of 14 points and includes compensation for Iran, as well as the establishment of new mechanisms to regulate shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
