Iran says US damaged diplomacy through repeated ceasefire violations

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has said that repeated ceasefire violations by the United States, contradictory messages and constantly shifting demands have damaged diplomatic efforts. ‘The diplomatic process does not take place in a vacuum,’ Baghaei said on Wednesday (10/6). ‘To advance any negotiation or diplomatic process, sufficiently conducive conditions are needed for diplomacy to proceed,’ he added. Baghaei accused the US of disrupting the diplomatic track through contradictory messaging, repeated changes in stance and demands, and ceasefire violations. ‘Unfortunately, the United States, through the contradictory messages it has delivered, repeated changes in its position and demands, and worst of all, repeated ceasefire violations, has damaged the diplomatic process,’ he said. Baghaei also accused Israel of hindering diplomacy through repeated ceasefire violations in Lebanon. ‘Any diplomatic process will be harmed by the use of force and actions that violate the law,’ he said. Baghaei added that Iran would review the conditions surrounding upcoming negotiations based on the latest developments, but provided no further details.
