Iran says Trump better understands 'language of violence'

Istanbul (ANTARA) - Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has said that US President Donald Trump appears to better understand “the language of violence”, after he threatened to launch further attacks on Tehran.

Gharibabadi wrote on X on Wednesday (8/7) that Trump’s insulting statements towards the Iranian nation and threats of further attacks were not “a sign of strength, but an admission of the failure of a policy built for years on violence, sanctions and threats”.

He also stressed that Trump’s policy had “failed to bring the Iranian nation to its knees”.

“With a criminal and cruel Trump, we must speak to him in his own language. It seems he understands the language of violence better,” Gharibabadi said.

Trump had earlier said the United States might attack Iran again on Wednesday night, following a US strike the previous night in retaliation for attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

“We hit them very hard last night, very, very hard. We may hit them hard again tonight. I will give them a little warning. We will hit them hard tonight,” Trump said on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkiye.

“I don’t want to deal with them anymore. They are trash,” the US President said.

Trump also said the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran last month to end the conflict had “ended”.
