Iran Says Latest US Strikes Render Ceasefire 'Meaningless'
Iran has stated that the latest wave of United States strikes, which reportedly wounded three people, has rendered the ongoing ceasefire ‘meaningless’. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi wrote on X that the full responsibility for the consequences of this illegal and dangerous action lies with the United States and any party participating in, facilitating, or assisting such actions. Iran’s military has also launched retaliatory strikes targeting US bases in the Middle East. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi echoed this sentiment, expressing doubt over the fragile ceasefire status. He told EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas in a phone call that Tehran views Washington’s recent attacks as a clear violation of international law, which has made the ceasefire ineffective. In another message of condemnation, a key military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, Mohsen Rezaei, said Washington must accept Iran’s terms or risk losing the last of its credibility in the world, without specifying what those terms were. He remarked that US President Donald Trump imagines bombs can save him from the quagmire of his own making, but warned that Iranian missiles would plunge him deeper into it.
