Iran Says It Will Not Let the US Determine the Timing of War and Peace

Istanbul (ANTARA) - Iran will not allow the United States to determine when war or peace will take place, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said on Monday. “We will not let the United States determine the time of war and peace,” Baqaei said at a weekly press conference, according to the semi-official Mehr news agency. He also said that the United States is stuck in an artificial quagmire of its own making after five months. On Sunday, Iranian Military Spokesman Amir Mohammad Akraminia said that the United States had halted its attacks for the previous two nights and that Iran’s “retaliatory operations” had also been stopped. According to an Axios report on Saturday, US President Donald Trump ordered the US military not to launch new attacks on Iran, ending nearly two weeks of daily strikes. Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated in recent weeks, with Washington launching attacks on Iran and Tehran responding by targeting what it called US military facilities and equipment in several countries in the region.
