Iran says it received messages from neighbouring countries on new security framework

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said on Saturday that Iran has received many messages from neighbouring countries regarding the formation of a new security framework and economic cooperation in the Middle East region. In a post on social media platform X, Qalibaf said the United States places the security of each of its allies at great risk through intimidation and complete disregard for their interests in favour of Israel. “An independent and autonomous regional order is what will truly bring about peace and security,” he added. The US and Israel launched joint air strikes against Iran on 28 February. Tehran responded by launching missiles and drones targeting Israel and US military bases in countries across the region. Media reports, citing regional officials, said Arab Gulf states were frustrated with Washington for starting a war but failing to protect them.
