Iran Says Deal to End War with US Has Been Finalised

Iran has stated that it has finalised a peace agreement with the United States, which will serve as the basis for ending the war and military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The announcement was made by the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) on Monday (15/6).

Iran stated that the MoU with the US has been finalised to end the war and military operations on all fronts. The official signing is scheduled for 19 June in Switzerland. The naval blockade against Iran will be completely lifted in accordance with the agreement.

In its statement, the SNSC said Iran had passed through a phase of intense and difficult negotiations with the support of the people and the country’s defence apparatus. The text of the MoU regarding the cessation of war negotiations was completed on 15 June.

“Based on the approval of the Supreme National Security Council, the text of the memorandum of understanding concerning the negotiations to end the war between Iran and the United States was finalised on the evening of 15 June,” the SNSC statement said, as quoted by Tasnim.

The SNSC emphasised that according to the draft agreement, war and military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, will be halted immediately and permanently. Furthermore, the naval blockade against Iran will be fully lifted.

“Based on the agreement reached, war and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, are halted immediately and permanently. In addition, the naval blockade against Iran is ended directly and completely,” the SNSC added.

The SNSC also stated that discussions towards a final agreement will continue after the other party first implements the commitments outlined in the memorandum.

The Iranian government also expressed appreciation to Pakistan and Qatar for their mediating role during the negotiation process.

The SNSC announcement came after Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both confirmed the achievement of a ceasefire agreement.

United States President Donald Trump also welcomed the development via his Truth Social platform and expressed his approval for the lifting of the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz. If implementation proceeds as planned, the agreement could become an important step towards de-escalating the conflict that has shaken the Middle East region and global energy markets over the past several months.
