Iran: Russia and China can help ease Middle East regional conflict

Tehran — Russia and China can help ease the conflict involving Iran and play a role in strengthening the diplomatic process, said Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani to RIA Novosti.

“The countries you have mentioned, namely Russia, China, and many other international partners, can play an effective role in strengthening the diplomatic process, easing tensions, and supporting the principles of international law,” Mohajerani said.

She added that Iran hopes the international community and friendly nations will adopt a responsible approach towards violations of international law, attacks on civilians, and aggression against Iran.

“Humanitarian cooperation and international support in the current situation can help alleviate the difficulties faced by the civilian population,” said Mohajerani.

On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched strikes against several targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties.

Iran subsequently retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East as a form of self-defence.
