Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, defended Tehran’s attacks against US military bases located in Gulf states. Araghchi released video evidence demonstrating that US rocket systems are being operated from countries neighbouring Iran.

Speaking to Press TV on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, Araghchi stated that an official video released by US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, confirmed that American forces are using the territory of neighbouring countries to launch attacks against Iran.

“Thank you CENTCOM for confirming that you use our neighbours’ territory to deploy HIMARS systems against our people, apparently including desalination facilities,” Araghchi said in a statement via social media platform X.

“There is nothing to complain about if our powerful missiles destroy these systems wherever they are located in retaliation,” he added.

Araghchi’s statement referred to a video uploaded to CENTCOM’s official social media account showing the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) belonging to the US Army being fired from a desert location. The US military did not disclose the launch site’s location.

However, given the estimated range of HIMARS systems, which reaches 300 to 500 kilometres depending on the type of missile, analysts stated that the weapon system could be positioned along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf, where several US bases are located.

Tehran has repeatedly warned that any US military assets used to launch attacks against Iranian territory would be considered legitimate targets.

Earlier this week, Iran stated that a combined US and Israeli attack struck a desalination plant on Qeshm Island in the country’s south. The attack disrupted water supplies to more than 30 villages in Iran.

Tehran’s officials condemned the attack as an assault on civilian infrastructure and stated that the attack would not go unanswered.
