Iran has launched attacks on several facilities and gas fields in Gulf countries following strikes on its South Pars gas field by the United States (US) and Israel. A major fire has been reported at a gas facility in Qatar.

According to Al Jazeera on Thursday (19/3/2026), Qatar’s Ministry of Interior announced that civil defence teams are currently working to extinguish the fire at Ras Laffan Industrial City following the Iranian attack.

No injuries have been reported according to the ministry’s statement. Previously, civil defence had stated that they had successfully controlled the fire at Ras Laffan.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued another statement following Iran’s attack on the Ras Laffan gas facilities. “Iran’s brutal attacks on countries in this region have crossed all red lines by targeting civilians, civilian infrastructure, and vital facilities,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, QatarEnergy stated that a large fire has occurred at several of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities following the latest Iranian attack at Ras Laffan Industrial City.

This attack “is an addition to previous attacks at Ras Laffan Industrial City on Wednesday” which “resulted in extensive damage to the Pearl GTL (Gas-to-Liquids) facilities,” said QatarEnergy.

There is “further extensive damage” from this new attack, with emergency response teams “immediately deployed” and no fatalities reported, QatarEnergy added.

Other countries, the UAE has condemned Iran’s attacks on the Habshan gas facilities and Bab field. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the “Iranian attacks” targeting the Habshan gas facilities and Bab oil field represent “a dangerous escalation and a violation of the principles of international law”.

The ministry said in a statement that they reserve the full right to take all necessary measures to protect their sovereignty and national security, and to safeguard their national achievements.

The statement mentioned that UAE air defences successfully intercepted the attack, and no casualties were recorded. It also emphasised that “targeting vital energy infrastructure poses a direct threat to regional stability and global energy markets”.
