Iran Rejects Trump's Remarks: No Direct Discussions with the US
Iran has stated that there are no direct talks with the United States, although it acknowledges receiving messages from several countries regarding requests for negotiations to halt the war. The Iranian government has emphasised the absence of direct communication with the United States concerning efforts to end the conflict, despite indirect channels through third parties reportedly occurring. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that his side has received messages from several friendly countries about negotiation requests from the United States. Nevertheless, he stressed that no direct discussions are underway between the two countries. Previously, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also refuted US President Donald Trump’s claim of productive talks. “Fake news is being used to manipulate financial and oil markets, and to escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are stuck,” Ghalibaf wrote. This mutual denial comes as the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran continues. Amid the situation, several countries such as Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey are reportedly attempting to promote de-escalation through diplomatic channels. The Strait of Hormuz has once again become the focus of global attention with plans to reopen the route, given its role as one of the world’s most vital points for energy distribution. Donald Trump stated that the US does not need allies’ assistance to secure the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed military success against Iran despite threats of a global oil supply blockade.
