Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that his country has no interest in dialogue with the United States. He refuted President Donald Trump’s claim that Tehran desires a deal to end the conflict.

“We are stable and strong enough. We are only defending our people. We do not see any reason why we should speak with America, because we were speaking with them when they decided to attack us,” Araghchi said in an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation” programme, according to AFP, on Sunday (15 March 2026).

“There is no positive experience speaking with America,” he added.

The previous day, Trump had claimed Iran desired a deal, but he was not prepared to make one under the current terms. However, Trump provided no further details about such an agreement.

“We have never requested a ceasefire, and we have not even requested negotiations,” Araghchi stated.

He added that Iran is prepared to speak with nations that wish to negotiate safe passage for oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, a key export route.

“I cannot mention specific countries, but we have been approached by several nations that want to have safe shipping lanes for their vessels,” he said.
