Iran Reaffirms It Has Never Requested Ceasefire
TEHRAN — Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that Iran has never submitted a ceasefire request to the United States and Israel. The conflict between Iran and the US-Israel alliance has now entered its third week.
At a press conference on Monday, 16 March 2026, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasised that Iran has not sent any messages or requested a ceasefire.
“However, this war must end in a way that makes it unsustainable and prevents enemies from contemplating further aggression. To date, they have received a significant lesson,” Araqchi said.
Araqchi stated that the US and Israel are now aware of the strength of the nation they face. He also reaffirmed that Iran will not hesitate to defend itself and will continue the conflict as long as necessary.
He added that the aggressors have sought assistance from other parties to guarantee security of the Strait of Hormuz following 15 days of conflict with Iran, as they seek to keep the strait open.
