Iran Ready to Take Reciprocal Steps if US Meets Its Demands
Tehran (ANTARA) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Tehran was ready to take reciprocal steps to normalise the situation surrounding the conflict between the United States and Iran once Washington fulfilled Iran’s demands.
“Of course, they know what conditions and demands must be met. Once those conditions and demands are fulfilled, Iran will, in turn, take the necessary action,” Gharibabadi told RIA Novosti.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry previously said it had submitted to the United States a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for seven days in exchange for the lifting of a naval blockade and export restrictions.
US President Donald Trump rejected the proposal. Iran has since conveyed its position to the United States through mediators in response to Washington’s decision and is preparing a more detailed reply.
The United States and Israel began striking targets in Iran on 28 February. Iran responded with attacks on several targets.
In mid-June, Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding to halt hostilities. However, the two sides resumed attacks on one another shortly after reaching the agreement.
