TEHRAN (ANTARA) - President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian told Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani that Tehran is ready to resolve conflicts and tensions in the Middle East.

“The Iranian president thanked the Qatari government for its continued support and constructive efforts in peace initiatives, stating Iran’s readiness to move towards a dignified framework to end current regional conflicts and tensions,” according to a statement from the Iranian Presidency on Tuesday, 26 May.

Amid ongoing tensions with the United States, Pezeshkian said it is time for Washington to demonstrate genuine commitment to peace.

Earlier this week, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, leading a high-level delegation in peace talks with the US, visited Qatar. Discussions in Qatar reportedly centred on the release of Iranian assets frozen by Washington.

Citing sources close to Iran’s negotiation team, Tasnim News Agency reported that Iran’s 14-point resolution proposal includes demands for the US to unfreeze $24 billion in overseas assets, with half to be released in the first phase and the remainder later.
