Iran Readies for Prolonged War, Set to Unveil New Weapons
The war in the Middle East continues to intensify. Iran now says it is ready to face a protracted war with the United States and Israel and to unveil new weapons soon.
This was conveyed by IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeni. He said Iran was fully prepared for a ‘protracted war’ with the United States and Israel, adding that it is preparing to introduce a new generation of strategic weapons unseen on the battlefield.
‘Initiatives and new Iranian weapons are coming soon,’ the spokesperson said. ‘This technology has not yet been deployed on a large scale. The enemy must be prepared for painful strikes in every wave of operations to come,’ he said, cited by Iran’s Press TV and quoted by detikNews, Friday (6 March 2026).
The Iranian general said the wave of attacks under Operation ‘True Promise’ 4 conducted to date represents only a small portion of Iran’s real capabilities.
The announcement came as Naeni coincided with the launch of the Khaybar missile strike on Tel Aviv, Israel. The missile strike triggered a wave of explosions in Tel Aviv. Local firefighters battled to extinguish fires in a residential building near a commercial centre in the area occupied by Israel.
According to AFP, the blast occurred after Israel broadened its campaign against Hizballah. Israel vowed to retaliate against the militant group backed by Tehran for taking part in the conflict following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iranian state television said Tehran had fired missiles at ‘targets in the heart of Tel Aviv’, after the Israeli military said it was attempting to intercept Iranian strikes on Thursday night local time.
AFP reporter in Tel Aviv reported two waves of explosions nearly simultaneous across the city. Traces of rockets lit up the sky above Netanya, a town north of Tel Aviv on the Mediterranean coast of Israel.
Following the rocket attack, Israel’s emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) said their teams had visited several locations reported affected. Nevertheless, there were no reports of fatalities in the incident.
Meanwhile, Israeli police said they were ‘currently dealing with the site of an incident involving the missiles that fell in central Israel’, adding that there was damage but no injuries.
