Iran Prepares New Strategy to Confront the US
Iran has warned the United States that it will face a new strategy in the Middle East conflict. This warning was delivered by the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, following a period of intense exchange of attacks between the two nations.
Rezaei stated that Iran’s new strategy will be implemented on the battlefield, through diplomatic channels, and in response to the economic pressures imposed by the US. “With this desperate struggle, you have not only failed to escape the hell you have created for yourselves, but you will soon see Iran’s new strategy on the battlefield, in diplomacy, and in facing the economic blockade that will destroy your foundations,” Rezaei said on Wednesday.
These statements follow a series of US attacks targeting various regions of Iran, including coastal areas and the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as several provinces in the west, southwest, and south of the country. One attack struck the town of Kuhestak on the coast of the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in four deaths and 68 injuries among wedding guests.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the attacks, labelling them as war crimes. In response, Iran claimed to have launched retaliatory strikes against several US military targets in the region, including locations in Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Erbil in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that these actions were an exercise of their inherent right to self-defence.
Tehran has also called on regional nations to prevent their territories from being used by the US military to launch attacks against Iran. Several Gulf nations have previously stated they would not allow their territory to be used as bases for attacking Iran.
Tensions have escalated significantly following US missile strikes on Larak Island on Sunday, marking the first US military action within Iranian territory since late July. The strikes targeted two IRGC rocket launchers amidst rising tensions in the vital shipping lanes of the Strait of Hormuz.
