Iran Prepared to Face Worst-Case Large-Scale War Scenario, Israel on High Alert
The Iranian government has warned of serious consequences should what it describes as “brutal United States aggression” continue. Simultaneously, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref emphasised that the country has prepared various measures to face the worst possible outcomes over the next two years.
In a statement released on Saturday night, as reported by Al Jazeera, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted that the defence operations conducted by the nation’s armed forces will persist. Tehran considers the maritime blockade imposed by the United States, along with various Washington actions against Iranian citizens both domestically and abroad, to be violations of the United Nations Charter.
The Ministry stated that Iran will utilise all available instruments to exercise its legitimate right to self-defence in the face of American attacks. Tehran also accused the UN Security Council of failing to take effective steps to halt the attacks carried out by the United States and Israel.
Iran maintains that the United States administration has sought from the outset to undermine various understandings previously reached with Tehran. According to the statement, comments by US President Donald Trump regarding the termination of memoranda of understanding, the revocation of Iranian oil sale permits, and the reimposition of economic blockades indicate “prior planning” to nullify agreements and violate Iran’s sovereign rights in the Strait of Hormuz.
In its statement, Tehran also rejected the justifications used by Washington to warrant the recent attacks against Iran. The Iranian government considers the use of the incident involving three ships on 8 July as a basis for the attack to be the “pinnacle of efforts to mislead public opinion.”
