Washington (ANTARA) - Iran is suspected of asking the United States to hold talks with Vice President JD Vance rather than with special envoy Steve Witkoff or President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, according to CNN.

According to sources cited by CNN, Iran does not trust Witkoff and Kushner regarding previous discussions before the US-Israel attacks on Iran.

Meanwhile, JD Vance is regarded by Iran as a party more supportive of achieving a ceasefire.

On Monday, President Trump stated that the US and Iran had held positive and productive talks over two days, adding that he had ordered the Pentagon to postpone attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days.

However, Trump’s statement was denied by Iran, which said it had only received messages expressing Washington’s desire to engage in dialogue.
