Iran has indicated its intention to appoint Pakistan and Turkey as mediators in its dealings with the United States. Pakistan has conveyed a proposal from the US to Tehran, while Turkey has also relayed messages between the two sides. This move suggests that Iran may be considering diplomatic avenues, despite its firm refusal to negotiate directly with the administration of US President Donald Trump. Deputy Chairman of the PKS Faction in the Indonesian DPR, Sukamta, stressed that Indonesia needs to take an appropriate and measured position in responding to these dynamics, in accordance with the principles of its foreign policy. According to him, the identity of the mediator is not of paramount importance. “The most crucial aspect is not merely who serves as the mediator, but how to halt the potential escalation of conflict, protect civilians, and pave the way for sustainable peace,” said the Deputy Chairman of Commission I in a statement received by CNNIndonesia.com on Thursday (26/3). As part of the global community, he added, Indonesia is expected to continue playing an active role in promoting world peace through cool-headed, constructive diplomacy oriented towards solutions. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto stated his willingness to mediate the conflict between the US-Israel and Iran. He also expressed readiness to visit Iran. The aim is to restore conducive security conditions. If approved by both parties, President Prabowo Subianto is prepared to travel to Tehran, Iran, to conduct the mediation. However, to date, there has been no firm decision from the two conflicting camps, namely Israel-the United States and Iran, regarding Prabowo’s offer.
