Tehran — Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that Iran will continue to resist American attacks until President Donald Trump realises that initiating war with Iran is a mistake that must not be repeated.

“Iran has never requested a ceasefire or negotiations. Such claims are figments of imagination,” Araghchi wrote on X.

He stressed that Iran’s powerful military will continue its operations until the US President acknowledges that the illegal war he has inflicted upon the American and Iranian peoples is wrong and must not be repeated, and ensures that victims receive compensation.

On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched strikes against targets in Iran, including Tehran, resulting in destruction and civilian casualties.

The strikes also killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, prompting the Islamic Republic of Iran to declare 40 days of mourning.

Iran subsequently responded by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.

Initially, the US and Israel claimed the preliminary strikes were necessary to counter what they deemed threats emanating from Iran’s nuclear programme, but they soon made clear their desire to see a change of power in Iran.
