Iran Parliament: The Middle East Will Not Be Peaceful While US Bases Remain

Tehran (ANTARA) – Iran’s Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned on Saturday that the Middle East will never be peaceful so long as US military bases remain hosted in the region. ‘The defence policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is consistent, based on the guidance of our Imam who has fallen as a martyr. As long as the presence of US bases in this region continues, those countries will not enjoy peace,’ he said on X. Iran has attacked Israeli territory and US military targets in the Middle East in response to a joint military operation launched by the United States and Israel on 28 February. The first day of the operation resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a girls’ school in southern Iran was bombed. Iran estimates the death toll has reached more than 1,200.
