Iran Launches Retaliatory Strikes Against US Military Bases
Iran launched a retaliatory attack against the United States on Thursday (11/6). Iran, according to state news agency Nour News, fired missiles at the US-run Harir Air Base in northern Iraq. Iran also struck a US radar site in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has instructed the military, stating he will deliver a stronger strike against Iran. Donald Trump accused Tehran of stalling negotiations. Iran experienced a series of explosions and attacks in several cities, including Minab, Mohr, Bandar Abbas, and Sirik. The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces also reported a violation of southern Iranian airspace by a US F-16 fighter jet. Iran officially closed the Strait of Hormuz after being attacked by the US. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps will consider any vessel approaching the waterway as collaborating with the enemy. “We warn that no ships are allowed to leave ports in the Persian Gulf or the Gulf of Oman. Approaching the Strait of Hormuz will be considered a form of collaboration with the enemy,” the IRGC said in a statement cited by Iranian news agency Fars. The Tasnim news agency reported that the areas of Sirik, Qeshm Island, and Minab were targeted in attacks carried out by US fighter jets. The US strikes on several areas in Iran on Tuesday (9/6) local time resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure, including the destruction of a telecommunications tower.
