Tehran — Provocative Israeli-American military strikes against Iran have resulted in escalating conflict across the Middle East region. In retaliation, Iran launched a massive ballistic missile attack against several US military bases in the Gulf region on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

This move represents a direct response to joint US-Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory conducted hours earlier.

Iran’s Fars news agency confirmed that Tehran had targeted a number of strategically significant US military installations in the region. The locations struck by missiles included Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al-Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, and the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

Explosions were also reported in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, according to the AFP news agency, further deteriorating the situation. At the time of publication, there were no official reports regarding the source of the explosions or the number of casualties, though local authorities reportedly raised the security status to the highest level.

A senior Iranian official told Al Jazeera that Iran had requested Israel to “prepare for what will happen, and our response will be made public, and there are no red lines.”

“All American and Israeli assets and interests in the Middle East have become legitimate targets. There are no red lines following this aggression, and anything is possible, including scenarios that have not been considered previously,” the official stated.

“The United States and Israel have initiated aggression and warfare that will have far-reaching and long-lasting consequences. We are not surprised by the joint American-Israeli aggression and we have a complex response without time limitations,” the official added, stressing that any calls for Iran to exercise restraint or surrender were “unacceptable and merely wishful thinking.”
