Iran Launches Continuous Attacks on Israel, Haifa Oil Refinery Hit by Missile Debris
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, HAIFA – The Bazan oil refinery in Haifa sustained damage from falling missile debris following several consecutive missile attacks from Iran that triggered sirens across Israel on Thursday afternoon. The attacks were Iran’s retaliation for Israel’s strike on the South Pars gas field.
Magen David Adom units were dispatched to the site. No casualties were reported, and a spokesperson for the Ministry of Environmental Protection confirmed there was no leakage of hazardous materials.
It is noteworthy that Israel has so far often concealed the impact of Iranian attacks in their territory. Additionally, the Zionist government has imposed strict censorship on reporting regarding the effects of such attacks.
The Israel Broadcasting Authority initially released images showing thick smoke rising from around one of the refineries, noting on its X platform that there were no concerns about hazardous material leaks. Shortly afterwards, the media outlet announced that it had received instructions from the government not to publish documentation of the Haifa bombing.
“Damage to the electricity grid in the northern region is local and insignificant,” said Energy Minister Eli Cohen, quoted by The Jerusalem Post. According to him, teams from the Israel Electric Corporation are already working in the field and have restored power to most affected areas.
“Electricity will be restored to the disconnected areas shortly. Moreover, the attacks in the north did not cause significant damage to infrastructure sites in Israel.”
The Ministry of Environmental Protection stated that, fearing hazardous substances, they would send a team to the refinery, along with emergency teams, to accompany security forces.
Israeli media reported that Iran has launched six attacks on northern Israel since Thursday morning, in addition to attacks on other areas in the occupied territories.
Previously, police and medical personnel had investigated several impact sites of missile debris following attacks targeting central Israel. No injuries were reported, but a village in northern Israel lost power, and a fire broke out in an open area.
