Iran Issues Stern Warning to US and Israel Ahead of Ayatollah Khamenei's Funeral

Iranian authorities have issued a stern warning to the United States and Israel against launching any attacks during the funeral of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has stressed that the US and Israel will regret any disruption to the funeral of the late Supreme Leader.

Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters in Tehran, cautioned Iran’s enemies against any ‘miscalculation’ during this period. He stated that the Iranian armed forces would retaliate if the warning is not heeded.

‘We warn the enemies of powerful Iran to avoid any miscalculation and to consider the harsh and regret-inducing response from the sons of the Iranian nation in the Armed Forces to any threat or aggression,’ Abdollahi said.

Iranian authorities are planning funeral ceremonies for Ali Khamenei from 4 to 9 July. The funeral was significantly delayed due to the war between the US, Israel, and Iran. Khamenei was killed in an airstrike on the first day of the conflict on 28 February. The multi-day funeral procession is scheduled to take place in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad in Iran, as well as in Najaf and Karbala in Iraq.

The country’s top security body previously warned that those responsible for the death of the former Ayatollah Khamenei would face retribution, as the nation prepares for a grand funeral for the late leader.

‘The clenched fist of the fallen Leader at the time of his passing will remain an eternal symbol of the national security doctrine of Iran,’ said Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Zolqadr, a veteran commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was appointed to the top security post on 24 March following the assassination of his predecessor, Ali Larijani, in a US-Israeli attack.

‘The file of revenge for the sacred blood of the great Khamenei and the oppressed martyrs of Iran remains open,’ Zolqadr asserted. ‘The perpetrators and those who ordered this crime will, in due time – which will not be long – face proportionate punishment at the hands of the righteous.’
