Iran Issues Stern Threat Following Latest US Strikes

The Iranian military has threatened to deliver a ‘devastating and decisive’ response to any aggression by the United States in the Middle East. Tehran’s threat came after Washington launched the latest strikes against a number of targets in Iranian territory.

The threat was conveyed by Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters in a statement in the early hours of Thursday (11/6). In the statement, reported by the Tasnim News Agency, Khatam al-Anbiya stressed that Iran would respond firmly to any hostile action by the US military. The statement followed a renewed wave of strikes by the United States against targets in Iran early on Thursday.

US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, announced that its strikes targeted ‘Iranian military reconnaissance capabilities, communication systems, and air defence sites across Iran’. CENTCOM claimed that US forces ‘fired a number of precision munitions at Iranian targets that pose a threat to US forces and commercial vessels transiting regional waters’. CENTCOM asserted that the strikes against Iran, ordered by US President Donald Trump, were acts of ‘self-defence strikes’ against ‘unprovoked and continued Iranian aggression’.

The wave of strikes follows similar attacks in recent days in response to the shooting down of a US military Apache helicopter by Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. Shortly after the American strikes, Iranian media reported that Tehran’s forces had attacked the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. The Mehr and Fars news agencies reported that ‘communication antennas and Patriot system radar facilities of the Fifth Fleet were targeted’.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said in a statement on social media platform X that air raid warnings had been activated in the country, with residents urged to ‘remain calm and proceed to the nearest safe location’.
