JAKARTA — PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) continues monitoring operations to ensure the safety of workers and ship crews currently in the Middle East region, affected by escalating conflict in the area.

PIS operates a branch office in Dubai, namely PIS Middle East (PIS ME), which currently has 30 workers and family members.

Acting Corporate Secretary of PIS, Vega Pita, stated that the condition of PIS Middle East workers and families is currently confirmed to be safe, and the company continues to monitor the situation in Dubai.

“Our workers are also following guidance from the Indonesian Embassy there to increase vigilance, report their whereabouts, and contact the Indonesian Embassy hotline or Indonesian Consulate General hotline in case of emergency situations,” said Vega Pita in a statement on Sunday (1 March 2026).

PIS reported four vessels currently operating in the Middle East region: the Gamsunoro vessel at Khor al Zubair, Iraq; the Pertamina Pride vessel undergoing loading at Ras Tanura; the PIS Rinjani vessel currently anchored at Khor Fakkan; and the PIS Paragon vessel in Oman.

PIS proactively coordinates with ship management operators and local maritime authorities to enhance vigilance. The company maintains intensive communication and complies with guidance issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, and the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai.

Two vessels remain within the Gulf area: Pertamina Pride, managed by NYK, and Gamsunoro, currently managed by Synergy Ship Management.

“We are working to enable both vessels to exit the Gulf area promptly. Our fleet team is currently in intensive communication with ship management to coordinate and ensure crew and vessel safety,” added Vega.

US President Donald Trump stated that this military operation is a preventive measure to eliminate what is considered an imminent threat. Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced targeting the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and other US bases in the Gulf following the first wave of missile and unmanned aircraft strikes on Israel. Israeli emergency services reported treating casualties from explosions following missile launches from Iran, whilst Israeli military deployed search and rescue teams across the country following reports of projectile impacts.
