Iran Increases Military Alert, Trump Cuts Camp David Visit: Is War About to Erupt Again?

Iran has raised its military alert level to the highest tier, according to an official cited by the al-Youim network via Mehr News on Sunday (20/09/2026). Tehran has prepared response plans across air, land, and sea domains, enabling a heavy, extensive, and surprising response against United States (US) and Israeli assets in the region.

The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, also told Al Jazeera that Tehran does not rule out the possibility of new attacks from the US based on their military assessments. He emphasised that Iran is prepared for such a scenario and has modified its military plans following two previous rounds of combat.

According to Rezaei, Iran’s current plans focus on US Navy assets deployed across the Persian Gulf, ranging from the Gulf of Oman to the Arabian Sea. Rezaei also claimed that Iran has recently tested multi-warhead anti-ship missiles near US warships and aircraft carriers.

Rezaei warned that Iran’s next military response would be more extensive, targeting not only US bases in the region but also commercial interests and companies operating in the Middle East. When asked if the war could end soon, Rezaei replied, “In practical terms, the war is still ongoing,” adding that Tehran is pursuing a strategy aimed at achieving an end to the war “as soon as possible.”
